Industrial Ethernet Made Simple - Half Day Seminar
Ethernet is quickly emerging as the new de facto standard for the factory floor. However there is still confusion and concerns regarding the benefits, reliability and maintainability of this technology. This seminar will breakdown Industrial Ethernet starting with the basics then builds from there to help simplify this communication technology for the audience.
Just a few of the topics covered in this class:
- Basic Ethernet Terminology
- Advantages of Ethernet over Fieldbus
- Industrial Ethernet vs. Commercial Ethernet
- Networking Architectures
- Ethernet Protocols
- Supporting Redundancy, Safety and Motion Control

PLCs Made Simple - Half Day Seminar
A common misperception is that hard-wired control systems (e.g. cube relays, timers, counters, “green boards”) are simpler to implement and more cost effective than Micro PLCs or Programmable Relays. Designed for individuals who have limited or no experience working with PLCs, this seminar will focus on explaining the basics of PLC technology and how these solutions can replace traditional hardwired control systems to increase flexibility while saving time, money, and panel space.
PLC Made Simple will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to PLC Components and Their Basic Operation
- Introduction to Intelligent Programmable Relays and Their Basic Operation
- Hands-on Setup, Configuration and Programming Examples/Exercises
- Cost Benefit Analysis of Programmable vs. Hardwired Controls

Motion Made Simple - Half Day Seminar
Motion Control is becoming a critical technology as mechanical solutions can not meet the increased modularity, flexibility, speed and precision requirements needed to meet customer demands. This seminar will help familiarize the audience with the basics of motion control technology and its application.
Just a few of the topics covered in this class:
- Basic Motion Terminology
- Types of Motion
- The Mechanics of Motion Systems
- Speed Transmission Devices
- Servo Motors
- Motion Controllers & Drives
- Sizing Drives & Motors
- Application Example Project

Single-Axis Motion Control Programming- Half Day Workshop
Course Prerequisite: Basic understanding of motion control concepts
The Siemens SINAMICS S110 is a simple cost effective motion control solution optimized for basic single-axis servo tasks and will be utilized for this motion control programming workshop. Attendees will have the opportunity to program and commission the S110 using a variety of application scenarios in a hands-on lab environment. There is no charge to attend this class however attendees should have a basic understanding of motion control concepts.
Hands-on lab exercises will cover:
- Online connection to Drive with STARTER Configuration Software with laptop
- Configure drive and motor with STARTER and run motor from STARTER integrated Control Panel Tool
- Setup and run motor from Digital/Analog I/O
- Setup and configure Safety Integrated Drive Functions
- Configure the built-in Easy Positioner for Motion Control
- Program the “Free Function Blocks” integrated in the drive for simple logic control combined with Motion Control
- PLC Connection via Network for Motion commands from PLC
